Fresh Snow: Photography & Digital Art
Snow in Atlanta is not unknown, but neither is it commonplace. Photographer CF Lovelace captured a shot of fresh snowfall on pine trees in the suburbs of Atlanta. The picture was taken with his handy iPhone 13 on a morning walk. The stark black and white composition provided terrific subject matter for a bit of experimentation in creating the digital artwork Fresh Snow.
The cover image shows a blowup from the upper left quadrant of the full image. The swirling and flowing nature of the snow-laden pine needles is what catches my attention. A gray tone color scheme lets the underlying form stand out. A lot of beauty and movement is captured in this quick image from an early morning walk.
There is always something about black and white imagery that captures my imagination since it emphasizes form over color. In this case, the natural background of the pine forest provides an intricate weave of snow, bark, and branches.
